SECTION 1

About Zoombee Specialty Wood Products

Company Overview

Zoombee Specialty Wood Products is a specialty wood manufacturer based in Granum, Alberta, producing high-quality finished wood products for the construction and renovation trades. Zoombee's product line centres on tongue and groove profiles, shiplap, and V-groove paneling — precision-milled from kiln-dried softwood stock, sourced from the BC Kootenays, in the species our customers demand.

Zoombee is built on a small number of non-negotiable commitments: quality finish, accurate profiles, consistent moisture content, and the ability to produce in long lengths that larger commodity mills cannot reliably supply. These advantages make Zoombee the preferred source for contractors, custom home builders, cabin builders, and timber frame builders across Western Canada who need product they can count on.

Mission Statement

"Quality is not a feature at Zoombee — it is the foundation. Every board we produce is held to the same standard: correct moisture content, accurate profile, smooth finish, clean edges, and contractor-ready packaging. We believe that a supplier who gets these basics right, every time, is more valuable than any price list. Our goal is to be that supplier for every customer we serve."

Our History

Zoombee was established in Cranbrook, BC and has now expanded our manufacturing to Granum, Alberta with a clear focus: produce superior finished wood products for the trades, from a facility built for precision and efficiency. From the beginning, the company has prioritized long length production, consistent quality, and the kind of custom profile capability that keeps contractors coming back. That focus has built lasting relationships across Western Canada and continues to drive Zoombee's growth.

Core Markets Served

  • Custom Home Builders: Builders finishing high-end residential interiors who demand premium appearance and consistent profile across long runs.

  • Renovation Contractors: Professionals matching existing profiles or specifying new T&G paneling for interior wall and ceiling work.

  • Cabin Builders: Builders and owners seeking quality softwood T&G for interior finishing of cabins, chalets, and recreational properties.

  • Timber Frame Builders: Structural timber frame contractors requiring quality T&G ceiling and wall paneling to complement their frame work.

  • High-End Finishing Contractors: Specialty interior finishing contractors who specify appearance-grade T&G for premium residential and small commercial interiors.

  • Outdoor Structure Builders: Contractors building covered outdoor spaces, saunas, and interior-finished outbuildings where Cedar and Larch T&G is specified.

  • Small Commercial Builders: Interior contractors finishing retail, hospitality, and office spaces with appearance-grade T&G wall and ceiling paneling.

SECTION 2

Manufacturing Quality

Overview of Manufacturing Standards

Quality at Zoombee starts with feedstock. All T&G products are milled from kiln-dried 2×6 softwood stock — dried in-house, stabilizing the wood, before profile milling begins. From species selection through kiln drying, molding, and final inspection, every stage of production is controlled by people who understand what a finished board needs to perform. Our standard is simple: every product that ships must arrive at the job site with the right moisture content, the right profile, and a surface finish that is ready to work with.

Molder Equipment

Zoombee's molder equipment is set up and maintained for consistency across long production runs. Profile heads are inspected and dressed regularly to maintain dimensional accuracy from the first board to the last — a critical requirement when long-length production is a core part of what we do.

Operators monitor feed rates and surface quality continuously during each run. Any board that does not meet our finish standard is pulled before it reaches the bundle.

Kiln Drying & Moisture Content Standards

Zoombee operates a conventional kiln dedicated to drying the 2×6 softwood feedstock used in all finished T&G products. The kiln is loaded in 16-foot lengths — the length that defines Zoombee's long-length capability — with 8 packages per charge at 42 boards per package, for a total of 336 boards per charge. Standard turnaround is 5 days per charge.

Species dried: Douglas Fir, Pine, Cedar, Larch.

Moisture content is verified by non-intrusive measurement taken by batch at the end of each kiln cycle. Product that does not reach target moisture content is returned to the kiln rather than being released for milling. Moisture content targets are maintained separately for interior and exterior applications — refer to Zoombee product specification sheets for confirmed target ranges by application and species.

Species Selection Standards

Zoombee produces T&G profiles in four core softwood species, each selected for specific performance characteristics and customer demand:

  • Douglas Fir: Strong, stable, and consistent.  Accepts stain well, and is well-suited to applications where a tight, even grain is preferred.  Is not well suited for white wash or painting as the wood has tannins that will turn the finish pink.

  • Pine: The most versatile species in the line. It clear coats well with a light finished product. Excellent white wash, priming and painting.  Some stains look very nice with pine.

  • Cedar: Naturally durable and aromatic. The preferred species for saunas, covered outdoor structures, and anywhere moisture resistance and appearance matter.

  • Larch: Dense, hard, and durable for a softwood. Excellent for high-traffic paneling applications and valued for its warm, distinct grain character.

Species availability may vary by season and production cycle. Contact Zoombee for current availability by species.

SECTION 3

Tongue & Groove (T&G) Profiles

Tongue and groove profiles are Zoombee's signature product line. Our T&G boards are precision-milled to ensure tight, consistent fits during installation, with smooth surfaces ready for finishing and profiles that remain stable in service. Whether you are paneling a ceiling or finishing a feature wall, Zoombee's T&G offering provides the profile, species, and surface quality you need.

SECTION 3.1

Standard T&G Profiles

Zoombee's standard tongue and groove boards are the workhorses of our T&G line. Milled to tight dimensional tolerances, these boards deliver consistent tongue and groove fit, smooth or textured surfaces, and reliable performance across interior wall paneling and ceiling plank applications.

Applications

  • Interior wall paneling (horizontal and vertical installation)

  • Ceiling plank applications

  • Mudroom and utility room wall paneling

  • Sauna and steam room applications (Cedar)

Long Lengths — A Zoombee Advantage

Zoombee's kiln is loaded and operated in 16-foot lengths, which means long-length T&G boards are a standard part of production — not a special order. Fewer joints mean faster installation and a cleaner finished result. Contractors who build in long bays, vault ceilings, or large open-plan spaces will find Zoombee's long-length capability a meaningful advantage.

Available Widths & Species

Available in Douglas Fir, Pine, Cedar, and Larch. 4”, 6” and 8” available in most species. With wider widths, the mill stock is from larger trees resulting in larger knots.  4” and 6” is by far the most common.

Standard Options & Features

  • Finish Options: Rough-sawn texture or smooth-planed face.

  • Thickness: thickness is typically 5/8” on pine, fir or larch and 11/16” on cedar.

  • Standard Lengths: 8', 10', 12', 16'

SECTION 3.2

V-Groove Profiles

V-groove tongue and groove boards are a popular choice wherever a decorative, defined reveal between boards is desired. The chamfered edges on each board create a crisp "V" shadow line at every joint when boards are installed, adding visual dimension and elegance to wall and ceiling applications. V-groove is widely used in interior design for accent walls, full-room paneling, and ceiling installations where a refined, architectural look is sought.

Available in Douglas Fir, Pine, Cedar, and Larch.

All V-groove boards are smooth-planed on the face as standard but can be a custom Rough-sawn face

SECTION 3.3

Shiplap Profiles

Shiplap is a time-tested board profile defined by rabbeted (notched) edges that allow boards to overlap slightly during installation. The result is a tight, flat-faced panel surface with a consistent, clean shadow line reveal between courses. Shiplap's enduring popularity spans both classic and contemporary design trends, from rustic farmhouse interiors to modern Scandinavian-influenced spaces.  The lap joint requires face nailing but is available.  More common is the T&G shiplaps that allow for tongue nailing to hide the brads.

Applications

  • Interior feature walls and full-room paneling

  • Ceiling plank installations

  • Mudrooms, entryways, and utility spaces

  • Retail and hospitality interior finishes

Available Widths, Thickness & Species

Available in Douglas Fir, Pine, Cedar, and Larch. Thickness is typically 5/8” on pine, fir or larch and 11/16” on cedar.

Reveal

Reveal on Pine, fir and larch is wither 3” or 5” for the industry standard 4” and 6” materials.  Custom widths are available.

Finish Options

  • Smooth-Planed Face: Standard face finish on all species; ideal for painted or stained interior applications.

  • Rough-Sawn Texture: Available providing for a rustic, textured aesthetic. This is done as a special request.
